About the Minis Learn-to-Swim Program
Who are the Minis?
Minis is a learn-to-swim program for Somerset residents who would love to become a Somerset Dolphin someday but are either too young to join the swim team or cannot pass the deep-water test administered by the Somerset pool lifeguards (swim the length of the pool unassisted and be able to tread water). This learn-to-swim program is coached on a 1:1 basis by our Town of Somerset teen swimmers (ages 13 and older).
Who is Eligible to Join:
Somerset residents who are between 4 and 7 years old (by June 1st) and are able to put their face underwater are eligible to join the Minis program. Please note: we cannot make an exception to the age minimum. If your child is not 4 by June 1st they are not eligible to participate in Minis. Please reach you to the coaches to schedule private lessons.
What is the Program:
Minis practice four days a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for 30 minutes at one of two available practice sections (3:30pm or 4pm). The season starts after the MCPS school year ends in mid-June. There is also one Mini meet and Mini swimmers are invited and encouraged to attend Somerset Dolphins swim team social events. Note: all social events will be designed and comply with any/all Montgomery County COVID restrictions for outdoor, group gatherings.
